John has over 41 years experience in the financial services industry, affiliating with Provident Mutual on April 1, 1979. He specializes in the Business and Family Wealth Transfer marketplace, commonly known as Estate and Business Succession Planning which includes the Executive Compensation and Fringe Benefit Consulting marketplace as well as in the Wealth Creation and Estate Preservation strategies.
John was a member each year of the Nationwide Financial Network (Formerly Nationwide Provident / Provident Mutual Life Insurance Company) Presidents Club (established in 1994). He qualified for the Premier Club and Sales Conference (formerly Top-50 and the Provident Mutual Leaders Association [PMLA]) each year, beginning in 1981. He is the recipient of Provident Mutuals 2001 Boris Todorovich award, the 2004 Nationwide Provident Presidents Prestige Award and was the 2004, 2005 & 2006 Nationwide Financial Network leading agent.
In May of 2007 John affiliated with Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company and Hornor, Towsend, & Kent, Inc. (HTK). In 2008 and 2009 he was awarded Penn Mutual's Gold Medal. In 2010, and 2011 he was awarded Penn Mutual's Silver Medal. In 2015, he was awarded Penn Mutual's Bronze Medal. He was named Penn Mutual's Financial Professional of the Year in March, 2011 and was the recepient of the Walter J. Scott Distinguished Service Award in June 2018. He is a member of the Penn Mutual STAR program. In April, 2013, John joined the Board of Directors of The Association for Advanced Life Underwriting (AALU), where he served for 5 years. He continues to serve within AALU on select committees.

John IV joined the firm in 2004 after graduating from East Carolina University
with a degree in Economics.
John graduated from Elon University's School of Law in May of 2010. He passed
the North Carolina Bar in July 2010. He is a practicing attorney in Jacksonville, NC.
John is also a licensed agent in North Carolina for Life and Health as well as Property and Casualty Insurance.
He serves 'of counsel' to 221 B Advisory Services, LLC.

Jerry W. Lawson (1944-2009) - A Gentleman of Character and Integrity
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, began his career
in the financial services industry with Provident Mutual in 1967. For the first 10 years
of his career, he built a substantial life insurance practice, specializing in the
areas of estate planning, retirement planning and employee benefits.
He transitioned into his role of Agency Management in 1978, retiring in 1999,
when he joined Lawson & Watson, LLC.
In addition to his many professional achievements, Jerry was active in several
community organizations, including the Greensboro Human Relations
Commission, President of the Greensboro Housing Authority, Board of Visitors
of the School of Economics of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,
past Board of Visitors of Guilford College, and member of the Advisory Board at
Branch Banking and Trust.
In May of 2007 Jerry affiliated with Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company and Hornor,
Townsend, & Kent, Inc. (HTK).
